Sustainable landscape architecture is a category of sustainable design that is concerned with the planning and design of both the built and natural environments. Apex Studios’ vision ensures that green spaces are utilised, and are engineered to be sustainable. Detention basins, parks, reserves and open spaces are programmed to be sustainable, useable and integrated, and as aesthetically pleasing as the circumstances will allow.
Frederick Law Olmsted believed universal access to nature and beauty in designed landscapes would help elevate community health and in turn social discourse. He was guided by the belief that public spaces should be accessible and inclusive. Apex Studios designs spaces that are beautiful and functional. Inclusivity, resourcefulness, form and study of multifaceted aspects of the public realm allows us to produce plans that are detailed and tangible.
As fully qualified landscaping architects we can have various levels of involvement with your project, depending on the project and your requirements. At one end of the spectrum, we can have as little involvement as just a one-off consultation to answer a few of your questions. At the other end of the spectrum, we can come up with all of the ideas, then turn them into a full design, with all the documentation for Council approval, and then we can do all the tendering and project management through to completion of the project. The following are some more details about our other services:
If you’re just looking to brainstorm some ideas, or you have some specific questions about what is possible, then we can put our landscaping consultant’s hat on and meet you for a one-off on-site consultation, or in some cases, we may even be able to have our consultation remotely (by online video) or in the office.
Our qualified and professional landscape architects can provide all levels of documentation for your landscape plan. The Concept design is an initial, low-detail plan that just provides indicative zoning, location of hardscape and softscape works, and the overall vision of the space. For smaller projects this may be all that is required, but for others, especially those requiring Council DA Approval, this is only the first stage and fully detailed plans and documentation will also be needed.
For projects that require it, we can provide you with the highest level of detailed plans that include all of the statutory requirements, Council approvals and technical information. Our detailed plans cover public space, residential design, playground, streetscape design, public art and reserves.
The benefit of 3D rendering is that you can familiarize yourself with what the actual finished project will look like, so that you don’t have to start a build blindfolded. Another benefit is that you will even be able to see what your project will look like in overcast conditions, in full sun, or at any time of the day. It can give you the the confidence that you need to either proceed as is or to make some adjustments.
